In the latest attempt to whitewash their lagging reputation, the Anti-Trump board of the New York City Metropolitan Republican Club is inviting conservative pillar Gavin McInnes. McInnes is scheduled to speak Tuesday at the Upper East Side Club in an event open to the public.
“Bold move to host McInnes. He draws protestors all over the country. The Club is finally starting to show some guts in their choice of speakers,” says club member Allan Stevo.
“It’s about time someone like McInnes comes through these doors,” says a sitting board member.
“None of this changes the past. Seven Trump supporters were thrown off the board of the club earlier this year in this, this purging. It was totally in violation of our bylaws. It was done by liberal Schumer supporters who are trying to take over our club. The bylaws still aren’t being followed and they removed an eighth member when he spoke up about it,” says a long-time club member.

McInnes, host of the New York-based “Gavin McInnes Show” invited anti-Trump club member Robert Morgan, Stevo, and purged board member, Michael Javelos, onto his show in February to debate the Trump Purge, with Morgan supporting the board’s controversial decision and Javelos and Stevo critical of the anti-Trump board throughout the half-hour segment.
The Metropolitan Republican Club Executive Committee has come under fire recently for preventing any pro-Trump speakers from appearing at the Club throughout the primary season and for going so far as banning Milwaukee County Sheriff and Trump supporter David Clarke. Meanwhile the Club has played host to Clinton family crony Doug Schoen for a book signing and cocktail party. Prominent members of the Republican club organized and funded an event with Democratic Boss Chuck Schumer as the guest of honor and provided an anti-Trump local candidate with space to run her campaign along with significant support for that campaign.
Long-time Schumer supporters on the Club Executive Committee include the Met Club’s president Deb Coughlin who, according to FEC records, broke the law in 2003 by exceeding the legal limit of political financial support, giving $6,000 to Chuck Schumer in a single day.
