Speculation continued late Thursday night that Congresswoman Renee Ellmers and Congressman Kevin McCarthy would resign Friday morning, GotNews.com has learned.
The possibility of a double resignation was discussed at the Media Research Center (MRC) dinner by several lobbyists and reporters who cite Daily Caller editor-in-chief Tucker Carlson as their source. (UPDATE: A previous version of this article stated that Carlson was at the dinner; he says he was not.)
Several prominent lobbyists and staffers have confirmed that the rumors are flying all over Capitol Hill.
The Texas GOP delegation met at the Capital Grille to discuss if any from their number should run for Speaker and several members said that both congressmen would be resigning.
Ellmers’s primary challenger, Kay Daly, posted a message stressing the importance of fidelity.
Despite denials from Ellmers, including a cease and desist letter from counsel, and no denial from Kevin McCarthy, GotNews.com continued to get credit for stopping McCarthy’s rise.

Sources within DC tell GotNews.com that Ellmers and McCarthy have been stopped dining together, going to the movies, and even holding hands.
Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-NE) told NewsmaxTV that the McCarthy affair rumors were “circulating for a long time.”
