The Federal Bureau of Investigation has launched a review into various allegations of public corruption in Puerto Rico.
According to The Daily Caller, the review comes after the FBI’s Puerto Rico office recently received “multiple allegations from residents across the island who say local officials in the territory have withheld needed FEMA supplies.”
This appears to corroborate GotNews’ reporting from September 30th, which highlighted a Puerto Rican cop’s report of massive corruption and gross hurricane relief mismanagement:
In the video, the caller on a New York Spanish language radio station identifies herself as a police officer from Guaynabo, a suburb of San Juan. She reports that the situation in Puerto Rico “looks like communism,” because San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz and Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello have been withholding emergency supplies for political reasons.
“There are dozens and thousands and thousands of food [boxes] and when people ask, we cannot give anything away because Carmen Yulin says that we cannot take anything out, because everything is a soap opera here. Everything is a show,” the caller declares. “There have to be cameras here and there because, you know, they are just looking for votes for the upcoming years.”
The caller reserves her harshest criticisms for Cruz, the anti-Trump San Juan Mayor with a history of supporting terrorists and funding violent protests. “Carmen Yulin won’t move unless there is a camera behind her,” the caller explains. “I need to speak for the people because the people are suffering.”
Rosa Emilia Rodriguez, the United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, announced last Sunday that she is reviewing these allegations of corruption, and will prosecute any public officials who engage in this criminal behavior.
