Congressman Artur Davis has repeatedly denied his use of the cheating website Ashley Madison but the IP address for the politician’s account links him directly to a hotel event where he was a headline speaker.
Davis spoke to a group of Republicans at the Hotel Jerome in Colorado in July 2013. Davis also appears to have gone on Ashley Madison’s website while a guest at the hotel around the same time.
The IP address linked to the Hotel Jerome and Davis’s Ashley Madison are identical. (It looks like he’s busted!)
GotNews.com contacted Davis’s campaign with our findings. When directly challenged on the connection, his spokesman said the following:
The Congressman spent a large part of the day discussing this story and has said all he feels there is to say on the matter. He understands that you will continue to cover the story as you see fit, but he now intends to focus all of his energies and attention on the campaign as Election Day quickly approaches.
In other words, he’s ignoring the charge.
Davis quickly denied any association with Ashley Madison after GotNews.com’s story broke Thursday, calling this website a “fifth rate blog” in the Alabama press.
Reached again for comment about why Davis called GotNews.com’s names, Davis’s campaign apologized.
Congressman Davis apologizes for any dismay or inconvenience that his references to you and your work may have caused you. The Congressman doesn’t know you and has no reason to suspect your credibility. His earlier statements about your website were borne out of frustration with both the breach of his personal financial information and the campaign’s opponents’ use of your report in a smear against his character.
The mayoral election for Montgomery, Alabama is between Todd Strange and Artur Davis and will be held on Tuesday.
