PolitiFact blogger Joshua Gillin is threatening to label GotNews “fake news” for Facebook’s news algorithm, unless we reveal our sources who helped break the story that leftist attorney Gloria Allred was offering President Donald J. Trump‘s fake rape accusers $500,000 last November.
“There has been no substantiation of this claim beyond your anonymous source,” wrote PolitiFact staff writer Gillin in a May 23rd email. “I was wondering if you perhaps had evidence to back up the claim that Allred paid Zervos.”
Has PolitiFact ever asked CNN, BuzzFeed, or The Washington Post to reveal their anonymous sources?
PolitiFact, which Facebook has designated among official arbiters of fake news, is a project of the Tampa Bay Times, which is owned by the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.
In December, Facebook announced that it had “started a program to work with third-party fact checking organizations that are signatories of Poynter’s International Fact Checking Code of Principles. … If the fact checking organizations identify a story as fake, it will get flagged as disputed and there will be a link to the corresponding article explaining why. Stories that have been disputed may also appear lower in News Feed.”
Poynter claims among its fact-checking principles:
A COMMITMENT TO NONPARTISANSHIP AND FAIRNESS
We fact-check claims using the same standard for every fact check. We do not concentrate our fact-checking on any one side. We follow the same process for every fact check and let the evidence dictate our conclusions. We do not advocate or take policy positions on the issues we fact-check.
The Tampa Bay Times endorsed Hillary Clinton in October—with PolitiFact’s leadership coming out of the closet once again as the partisans they are:
Clinton is well prepared to capitalize on [Obama’s] successes and ensure more Americans benefit. Her experience as a young lawyer, first lady, U.S. senator from New York and secretary of state during Obama’s first term is unmatched.
The Tampa Bay Times has endorsed Democratic presidential candidates for 70 straight years.
Should Facebook censor GotNews stories, our Editor-in-Chief, Charles C. Johnson, promises to go to the Senate with a formal complaint against Facebook.
Stay tuned for more.
Our researchers shut down Facebook’s biased left-wing trending news team. They discovered never before seen footage of a young Barack Obama whining about white privilege in Kenya. They debunked and destroyed Hillary Clinton’s narco baby mama Alicia Machado, who quit giving interviews because of us. If you’d like to hire our research team, email us at email@example.com.
