Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), an Iraq War veteran notable for her strong pro-peace foreign policy views and early support for Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential run against Hillary Clinton, supports Republican congressman Dana Rohrabacher for Secretary of State, according to a source close to the presidential transition team.
The source told GotNews that Rohrabacher, who declined an offer from President-elect Donald J. Trump to be Deputy Secretary of State over the possibility of serving under a neocon, had the support of the Hawaii Democratic congresswoman, who served as a specialist in a field medical unit in Iraq.
Gabbard met with President-elect Donald J. Trump in New Jersey a few weeks ago to discuss foreign policy, where she “urged [him] to ignore the neocons.” Both Gabbard and Trump share strong pro-Russia, pro-Syrian government, pro-peace views on foreign policy.
Despite being a Democrat, Gabbard shares outsider status with Republicans Trump and Rohrabacher. She was at one point considered a likely pick for Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations.
Gabbard resigned from her position as vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in February, in order to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders, drawing the ire of establishment Democrats in favor of corrupt Hillary Clinton.
Gabbard, Trump, and Rohrabacher have all come under fire from the establishment media for explicitly pro-peace attitudes to foreign policy, and have expressed a desire to work with Russia and President Vladimir Putin to fight Islamic terrorism in Syria and the Middle East.
GotNews previously exclusively reported that Rep. Dana Rohrabacher was offered the Deputy Secretary of State position by Trump’s transition team, but declined it because of the possibility of serving under a non-Trump-aligned Secretary of State, such as Trump-hating loser Mitt Romney, neocon warmonger John Bolton, or gun-grabbing classified info leaker David Petraeus.
Gabbard and Rohrabacher, who both want to work with Russia for peace, both personally fought in Iraq or Afghanistan, unlike Mitt Romney, John Bolton, and other establishment contenders for Secretary of State.
Rudy Giuliani, another contender for the post, was exclusively revealed by GotNews to have failed his own vetting process, likely due to his recent foreign lobbying. Giuliani is no longer in the race.
