Reddit administrators are threatening to “quarantine” a right-wing subreddit, which is compliant with Reddit’s content policy and user agreement, for “hate speech”, while declining to define or specify examples of “hate speech” on the subreddit.
The r/altright subreddit got a message from Reddit admin Chtorrr today, saying that the subreddit had “hate speech” on it and that the “hate speech” had to be removed before “further action” was taken:
The messages, provided exclusively to GotNews by one of the moderators, show that the subreddit is compliant and willing to work with the Reddit admin — one of the moderators even points out that the subreddit’s word-filter automatically censors racial and ethnic slurs, including the “n-word.”
The Reddit admin, however, declines to either define or give examples of “hate speech”:
The Reddit admin refuses to specify what constitutes “hate speech” and needs to be removed, despite repeated requests by the subreddit moderators, and warns the moderators that they are “endanger [sic] of quarantine”:
Neither Reddit’s content policy nor user agreement have a single instance of the phrase “hate speech”, let alone definitions:
Despite automatically censoring racial and ethnic slurs, policing content for threats of violence or illegal activity, and rationally discussing moderation issues with the Reddit admins, the r/altright subreddit is now being threatened with an undefined crime of “hate speech.”

This censorship threat comes amid an unethical anti-Trump censorship scandal involving Reddit’s CEO Steve Huffman and a slew of arbitrary bans of conservative personalities on Twitter.
