Washington Post media blogger Paul Farhi on Wednesday defended his fellow Democratic Party lackeys at CNN by making up lies about James O’Keefe‘s explosive secret videotape of CNN producer John Bonifield revealing how shamelessly and self-consciously the cable network had put profit above the truth about President Donald J. Trump—in no uncertain terms, Farhi lying to readers that O’Keefe’s Project Veritas had failed to identify Bonifield as being Atlanta-based and further deceiving Post readers by saying Bonifield was unfamiliar with the cable network’s political-coverage operations.
Farhi wrote that the video O’Keefe released Monday “doesn’t disclose that [Bonifield] is based in Atlanta — not in Washington or New York, where most of CNN’s coverage of national affairs and politics are produced.”
That is a clear—and potentially malicious and legally actionable—deception by the Post.
At 2:25 seconds into the mini-documentary—part three of the O’Keefe’s “American Pravda” series released this week—O’Keefe says, to the viewer, looking directly into the camera, “I’d like to introduce you to CNN’s supervising producer John Bonifield in Atlanta.”
In Oct. 2011, Farhi commiserated with his colleagues at CNN on TV and had this to say of O’Keefe:
You know, James O’Keefe needs an editor. He needs someone to say, you know, you just don’t have it here. You don’t have the goods. Let’s drop this one, move on to something else, whatever something else is. And try to prove whatever point, preconceived notion you have.
It looks like Paul Farhi is the one who actually needs editing. You can reach out to the Post’s executive editor Marty Baron here to let him know what you think of lying reporters.
The Washington Post‘s defenses of their fellow apparatchiks at CNN didn’t end there.
Farhi continued, “[The video] never mentions that Bonifield is a producer of health and medical stories, raising questions about how relevant his views are, and how informed he is, about CNN’s political coverage.”
In fact, O’Keefe documented an exchange where Bonifield makes clear that he’s aware second- or firsthand of the directions CNN CEO Jeff Zucker is giving from the top: to keep the network’s liberal viewers frothing at the mouth, wide-eyed and fuming that Vladimir Putin is in control of the White House:
Said Bonifield, not knowing Project Veritas was taping him:
My boss yesterday – we were having a discussion about this dental shoot and he goes – he was, like, “I just want you to know what we’re up against here.”[…]
And he goes, “Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords and for a day and a half we covered the climate accords. And the CEO of CNN said in our internal meeting – he said, ‘Good job everybody covering the climate accords. But we’re done with it. Let’s get back to Russia.'”
