The mother of the Canadian Muslim terrorist was involved in an immigration board patronage scandal in 2010, Gotnews.com has learned.
Susan Bibeau, mother to the Muslim convert gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, was fingered in a 2010 scandal involving preferential treatment of appointees to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, according to Canadian press at the time. Bibeau is Deputy Commissioner of Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Canada’s Public Service Commission — an inter government watchdog group committed to meritocratic hiring practices — investigated Bibeau and her division for thirteen controversial appointments.
The officially nonpartisan, nonideological immigration board has come under pressure from activists who want to change its make up and decision making process in recent years. Unlike the US, Canada has a points based system that rewards skills for immigration, not family ties or ethnic diversity.
It is not known how the tribunal was concluded but an arrest warrant was issued for Bibeau late Wednesday evening.
