Top law enforcement officials and legal marijuana industry leaders are increasingly convinced that Mexican drug cartels played a central role in starting the northern California wildfires after The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) issued a detainer for the suspected arsonist, Jesus Fabian Gonzalez.
The unprecedented wildfires have killed at least 40 people and destroyed over 200,000 acres of land across several counties in California, prompting Governor Jerry Brown to declare a state of emergency:

On October 14th, GotNews exclusively reported that key people in both law enforcement (including senior Department of Homeland Security Officials) and the legal marijuana industry noticed that the fires disproportionately devastated the area’s legal marijuana crops, causing tens of millions of dollars in damage. Accordingly, they began considering the possibility Mexico’s notorious drug cartels started the fires to hurt their competitors and drive up prices.
With this latest development, these same authorities and business leaders are growing increasingly certain that the cartels are behind the deadly fires.
The fires have devastated Northern California’s “Emerald Triangle,” the area at the center of the state’s thriving legal marijuana business. NBC News recently reported that in addition to crops and cash, the fires have destroyed “recent investments in infrastructure to comply with licensing regulations in preparation for recreational marijuana legalization next year.” There is a growing consensus among people familiar with the situation that this is not a coincidence.
According to Breitbart, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s office arrested Gonzalez, 29, on Sunday after they observed him walking out of Maxwell Farms Regional Park wearing a trench coat “with a plume of smoke behind him.” Gonzalez claimed “he started the fire because he was cold.” Curiously, it was 78 degrees outside at the time.
