Health authorities in Ohio couldn’t find a nurse exposed to ebola and notified her via text that she had to return home immediately–right before she was to attend a nursing awards ceremony with hundreds of nurses.
A tipster from OH informs us that health care professionals in the Buckeye State are woefully unprepared and that one of the five nurses under quarantine was unaccounted for.
My wife is a health care provider, middle management and they’ve had crash meetings all day trying to set protocols for dealing with patients who may be at risk, traveled from W. Africa, how to question, etc. They had one patient yesterday who was in for routine checkup and said, “Oh by the way I was in W. Africa 2 weeks ago” and there wasn’t any protocol or training to handle that, which started the whole thing, then the news today about the nurses on the plane really got things going.
Apparently the infectious diseases people with the hospital had already notified 4 of their nurses but couldn’t locate the 5th one. Turns out that she was on her way to a nursing awards ceremony and received a text telling her that she had to return home immediately, but didn’t say why. So she called her immediate supervisor to find out what was going on and that’s when she was told (all this during the meeting). Anyways, I originally thought that it was just the 5 Aultman nurses, but my wife said later that no, there were nurses from all over NE Ohio on the plane as well.
