The Young Turks host Hasan Piker, whom Buzzfeed erroneously dubbed “Woke Bae” this year, endorsed child abuse in a vile 2013 tweet directed at Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber, according to a GotNews review of Piker’s public Twitter account.
In the August 1st, 2013 tweet, Piker wrote “this episode in @justinbieber s life’s brought to you by parents who should have beat him…or taken plan b. or abortion. so many other ways”:
This tweet, which is directed towards the superstar with the inclusion of his Twitter handle, appears to violate the Twitter rules, which prohibit both targeted harassment and the advocacy of violence and physical harm like child abuse.
As GotNews reported last week, Piker has a history of making sexually degrading, sexist comments towards women who pursue careers in politics, including posting about his sexual fantasies involving female politicians. Piker’s Twitter account also appears to reveal a vile streak of misogyny that extends to women in general.
Moreover, stories from GotNews and The Gateway Pundit this past weekend detailed how Piker and two of his male coworkers gleefully viewed illegally hacked, sexually explicit photos of female celebrities in the fall of 2014 – while at work. At the time, fellow TYT host Ana Kasparian expressed her outrage at her coworkers celebrating the gross violation of these victims’ privacy.
TYT has recently been at the center of several scandals. In addition to these revelations about Piker, TheWrap broke the story earlier this month about how Piker’s uncle, TYT founder Cenk Uygur, made a series of racist, sexist, and pro-rape blog posts earlier in his career. Furthermore, former TYT reporter Jordan Chariton has vowed to sue the progressive outlet, which terminated him in the wake of a sexual assault allegation. Chariton continues to assert his innocence and is on a quest to clear his name.
