While Democrat Senator Mark Begich of Alaska touts his support for the Second Amendment video sent to Gotnews.com casts doubt on the incumbent senator’s support for gun rights ahead of a contentious U.S. Senate election.
In the video, Begich supports gun free zone laws and wrongly states that the Stand Your Ground self-defense law would be used as a defense by gang members.
The video comes from a 2006 mayoral debate between Begich and businessman Jack Frost. Begich won the race. Begich has long used his alleged support for the Second Amendment to protect himself politically in Alaska, a longstanding Republican state.
