Gotnews.com obtained an exclusive interview with Assemblyman Tim Donnelly who led the rally to #BringBackOurMarine and free Sgt. Andrew Tahmooresi.
Over three hundred people showed up to attend the #FreeTahmooresi rally on Wednesday.
“I was told today by a congressional staffer that thanks to our rally Mexico’s looking for a way to save face and free Tahmooresi,” Donnelly told Gotnews.com’s editor-in-chief Charles C. Johnson.
“I’m told they’ll say he had PTSD and the Mexican government, which doesn’t have forces deployed anywhere, was ill-equipped to handle that.”
The rally was so boisterous that the Mexican president and California officials were forced into a cramped tent, says Donnelly.
Donnelly appeared on FOX to discuss the protest.
Donnelly says that he asked Rocky Chavez, a Marine-turned-assemblyman if he privately inquired into Tahmooreesi’s health when Chavez visited Mexico on a junket. “He said ‘Why would I’?” Donnelly told Gotnews.com.
Donnelly also says that Chavez is bad mouthing him and Tahmooresi among other Republicans in the Assembly and pointing out that Tahmooresi is a Marine reservist only, a designation that Donnelly disputes. “Once a Marine always a Marine,” Donnelly said.
We asked Chavez for comment on Twitter and will update when given an answer.
“Why didn’t Chavez speak up in favor of his brother Marine? And why is he claiming credit now for ‘working behind the scenes'”? Donnelly asked.
“He was merely in violation of Mexico’s strict gun ban but it’s ridiculous to hold him when there is no intent!” says Donnelly. “It would be like stopping the Mexican military, who are regularly caught in violation of our borders carrying fully automatic rifles and hold them hostage for violating California’s assault weapons ban.”

Asm. Donnelly isn't the only one skipping lunch with the Mexican president tomorrow. Sen. Anderson is passing b/c of Marine in Mexican jail
