The woman who persecuted the Tea Party leader who took his own life in a controversial nursing home photo debacle has gone after other men on trumped or exaggerated charges.
Vickie Currie, formerly Madison’s lead investigator on the on the Clayton Kelly nursing home prosecution, has a history of driving the targets of her malicious investigations to suicide.
Many Mississippians remember that Mark Mayfield committed suicide earlier this year after Vickie Currie’s politically motivated investigation led to Mark Mayfield’s establishment-linked clients to drop his firm like a bad habit.
Most Mississippians will not remember, however, that Mayfield was not the first target Vickie Currie drove to suicide with a baseless investigation.
The prosecution stemmed from an innocent joke between Mr. Irby and a friend who had asked to borrow his Florida condo for a weekend.
Jackson Jambalaya reports on the malicious prosecution here.
Fast forward two and a half years to two months after Mayfield’s suicide. Jimmie E. Gates reported in August that Vickie Currie was reassigned to dog catcher.
Gates writes, “No one is commenting why Vickie Currie has lost her job as an investigator with the Madison Police Department. When reached at Animal Control/Rescue, Vickie Currie wouldn’t comment. Currie’s new assignment began this week.”
Everyone knows Vickie Currie was demoted for optics. As a foot soldier for the Cochran/Barbour mafia, she had faithfully performed her duties to the Don.
With a demonstrated history of maliciously prosecuting targets who are innocent of the crimes they’re accused of, it is a wonder Vickie Currie still has a job with the city of Madison at all.
With the suicides starting to pile up at Currie’s feet, the fact that Currie is still employed by the City of Madison is undoubtedly political recompense from Mayor Mary and the Barbour criminal syndicate.
She’ll still draw her state pension, and likely walk away and be eligible for a sweet double-dipping gig with one of the Barbour klan’s many state-sanctioned subsidiaries.
How many more years til retirement, Vickie?
Mark Mayfield wasn’t too far away from his, either.
